Derek,
Spectacular time away - A+ all around. And the Shangri-La was a completely wonderful surprise.
All the connections worked as did the excursions. Lin and Lynn got sick on Tuesday so we had to cancel one dinner and the White Pass trip but the ship refunded that money. We think they got a norovirus (?) as others throughout the ship had it too. Captain had to change a few things mostly in the way the meals were served. They also had people throughout the ship with Purell containers squiring everyone's hands at every opportunity.
We hadn't realized we had booked such early excursions. I think we were up and on the road or path by 6:00Am most days even on the boat. The ship was great and the food in the Pinnacle Restaurant was superb. Had good meals all around. Joe Fortes was out of this world. We wish we had planned a few more days in Vancouver - city of glass.
We were also thankful we had booked the land first, then the sea. The land days were very full (we estimate we walked about 7+ miles each day) and we needed the ship to recover a bit. Loved it all but were a little tuckered by the bus trip to the ship.
The ship where the murder took place pulled in and out ahead of us in Juneau - talk of the town.
A wonderful time was had by all - a few glitches but nothing worth talking about.
Would recommend this trip to others - lots of breathtaking mountains, huge glaciers, humpbacks, Orcas, brown and black bears, eagles.
Thank you so much
Don & Lin E.
