Let's continue counting down the Top 20 Resorts & Hotels Worldwide by Avenue Two Travel in 2021. Our last stop at number #15 saw us call on the wild dude ranch of Paws Up in Montana, now we must return to Hawaii, and to yet another Four Seasons Resort. This time were are heading to the tropical island paradise of Maui. If you recall #16 also saw us in Hawaii at the Four Seasons Hualalai on the Big Island! I can tell you now these are the only two resorts in Hawaii that made our Top 20 for 2021, and to think they both belong to Four Seasons, congrats to the 4S's. Don't want to spoil the rest of the countdown as we are only a quater of the way through it, but after we leave Maui, the US will be in hindsight for the most part.
Again this countdown is based on overall clientele in 2021.

Welcome to Maui, today we look on the exquisite Four Seasons Maui, which is located in the Wailea area of the island. Wailea is the islands most upscale beach community and located on the islands south western coast. Perhaps you've seen this resort on tv and didn't even know it? HBO's first season of The White Lotus, about a group of high end vacationers visiting a Hawaiian luxury resort called 'The White Lotus'....where things go very wrong, well actually the White Lotus is the Four Seasons Maui. The season was shot completely on location while the resort was closed to the public during the pandemic. & guess what? Season two of The White Lotus is being shot right now on location in Taormina, Sicily at The San Domenico Palace...which is...yes! a Four Seasons Resort. Let's talk about the Four Seasons Maui.
As you can see in the pictures the resort itself is raised on a sloped bluff rolling down to the private beach. This puts the resort above the beach and offers incredible ocean views from all front facing rooms. It is located pretty much at the very southern end of the Wailea beach resort area, which gives it privacy compared to the other luxury resorts in Wailea area. The Wailea community is just a short walk or drive north of a few minutes from the resort. So you have easy access to all the dining options and great shopping that Wailea has to offer, you are not in a remote area, but yet the resort is intimate within. The resort has two side wings and the center. In the middle you have the Fountain pool, though the resort does have three pools, and they all are salt water pools, the other two are the Serenity Pool & the Waterfall Pool. While the Fountain pool is the big pool, most popular instagram moments come from the adults only infinity edged Serenity Pool. There are private cabana tents at the (Waterfall & Fountain) & wooden cabana units at (Serenity). There are also four private cabanas down along the beach.
Accommodation wise your entry level rooms start with either a mountain or garden view, then on the ocean side you have ocean view room and deluxe ocean view rooms. All these room types run approx 600 sq ft and can sleep up to 4 guest with 2 queens if needed. Otherwise they are king bedded. All rooms are modern with soft wood & cream luxury tones.
From there you move into the 840 sq ft Small Suites or 1,400 sq ft Large Suites, that come in either Garden View or Ocean View (same size). Moving up from there you get in Club Class Suites, which are all ocean view. Some Club Class Suites have the bedroom seperate from the living area, and those are considered One Bedroom Suites. There is an Elite Two Bedroom Suite that can sleep up to 6, or can even be converted into a 3 Bedroom able to sleep 8. Now beyond that you get into the Hawaiian Presidental Suites. Which are each three bedrooms and can also sleep up to 8.
Four Seasons Maui has all the typical resort & water sports and activities you would expect such as paddle boards, snorkeling gear, boggie boards, electric bikes, daily activity schedule, game room and more. In addition you can enjoy the nightly Hula and Torch Lighting Performance. Lounging by the pool all day is a popular thing as they have a full time pool waiter service, and you can order from the pool menu any food & drink right from your cabana or lounger. Leaving the resort for a visit in Wailea for some shopping or dining? The resort will take you to anywhere in Wailea free of charge. Looking for something unqiue or special? Well of course Four Seasons Maui has some unbelieve experiences. These include their signature FIRE & WINE culinary experience which is led by Yeshua Goodman, owner of Kiawe Outdoor and advanced sommelier, and set at the storied Haiku House, this culinary experience includes dishes cooked over open flame paired with the world’s finest wines and starts at $28,500 for 6 guests. Other exclusive splurge experiences include a private helicopter itineraries or after hours private dinners on property at the Serenity pool or elsewhere for a romantic night or family gathering/celebration.
The Four Seasons Maui is a great destination for families, and very family friendly, they have a daily kids program all day from 9-5 for anyone up to 12 years old. As well as the exclusive Four Seasons Maui Academy. Where your kids can experience and learn about Hawaiian Culture, & marine life with a local naturalist from the Maui Ocean Center with interactive learning experiences at a touch pool, and wonderful Hawaiian stories by a local Hawaiian story teller.
Dining at Four Seasons Maui is a culinary feast, with its signature Spago, one of only a three Wolfgang Puck locations in the world. A Forbes Four Star and AAA Four Diamond restaurant, you'll sit down to a fusion of Hawaiian & California cuisine, pair that with the panoramic ocean views. Then you have DUO for your Steak & Seafood, and the fine Italian al fresco dining of Ferraro's, which offers oceanfront dining under the stars. Ferraro’s is perfect for special occasions. Savouring contemporary Italian dishes featuring fresh Maui ingredients as well as artisan pizzas from there wood-burning oven. In addition there is casual BeachWalk Cafe, and as mentioned above pool side dining, and in room dining.
A full service spa and wellness program is available at the Four Seasons Maui, including a new IV Thearpy Lounge and a fitness program in the ocean, yep. For the golfer there is a Top Golf Swing Suite, and nearby in Wailea you have three wonderful courses to chose between, the Blue Course, Emerald Course & Gold Course.
